Okay ladies, we're all thinking about it, now let's talk about it! Summer is here and our kids will be out of school soon, which means our days will be more chaotic and potentially more stressful - and we all know what that means...stress eating....
So what's your plan to eat well this summer?
For me, I'm NOT going to get ice cream every night while I'm on vacation.
I'm NOT going to eat chocolate every time I'm at the movies (or at least try not to! LOL!)
I'm going to plan my meals and ONLY keep healthy snacks in our house.

The Women's Nest
Healthy Challenges!

With today's busy lifestyles, our spending and nutrition can quickly zoom out of control.

Regardless of the state of the economy, the worries of today's families remain constant - Health and money remain at the top of the list. The Women's Nest is going to try and help our members reach healthier lifestyles and learn savings techniques through empowerment.
Most women indulge in some sort of comfort foods, at least once in a while, and it makes me wonder - do we all crave the same things, as the myth holds - chocolate or salty snacks? Doesn't anyone crave sweets other than chocolate? How about sour foods or proteins? Are we really all that closely related that our tastes are the same?
What's your comfort food? Not the food you crave most, but the food you turn to when you are tired, cranky, upset, or angry. The food that soothes :-)
You have a basic idea of what the good and bads foods are in your diet, right? But did you know there are actual steps to creating a healthy diet that might help you get there? Click "read more", below, and view the full article.
Then join us in our women's forums and discuss diet and nutrition, among hundreds of other topics with real women like yourself.
I was talking to Clare the other day about motivation for weight loss and accountability. We have our Daily Dose of Exercise Motivation thread - daily exercises that you can (typically) do at home - and an accountability thread to help stay motivated.
We also have our weekly Skinny Thoughts thread for everyone to stay motivated with eating healthy and accountable with weigh-ins.
You can start planning a healthy diet by looking at the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005 (http://www.healthierus.gov/dietaryguidelines) by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These guidelines are updated every 5 years. The best way to give your body the balanced nutrition it needs is by eating a variety of nutrient-packed foods every day. Just be sure to stay within your daily calorie needs.

Why should I try to have a healthy diet?
Having a healthy diet is one of the most important things you can do to help your overall health. Along with physical activity, your diet is the key factor that affects your weight. Having a healthy weight for your height is important. Being overweight or obese increases your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, breathing problems, arthritis, gallbladder disease, sleep apnea (breathing problems while sleeping), osteoarthritis, and some cancers.
Okay ladies, I need your help. All my Nest sisters know that lately food has been not looking too good to me, but about once/week I end up eating a ton! But here's the deal - nothing, and I mean nothing, sounds good. I am forcing myself to eat my meals b/c I know I'm hungry, but nothing sounds appealing.
