Why do I call myself "cautiousoptimism"?

February 11, 2010 by cautiousoptimism

I was 19 yo when I got married to my dh in a foreign country_ It was an arranged marriage.  That was 13 years ago!  Still married, but many obstacles along the way.  I will begin with my struggle TTC.  Even though I was starting my second year of college with a major in science-I wanted to be a doctor-I didn't consider contraception and nobody told me about it either.  I decided to "go with the flow".  Luckily, I didn't get pregnant.  Due to visa complications, my husband and I were separated geographically, after a month into our marriage.  I got sick there, people, languages, customs, almost everything was different from what I had been used to. Growing up in America, Asia-underdeveloped as it is, was no luxury. Separated for a year and told myself that I needed to face my fears.  He was quite different from me too.  He grew up in a remote village, never went to school,  and didn't speak a word of English.  How I ended up with him is a different story.  I had to try to get to know him and running away wasn't gonna help.
