Haven't slept all night! No pain, but I think the Motrin may have kept me awake. Anyone else ever have that experience with Motrin?
So, being awake, I leafed through Redbook's February edition. There was a blurb on what counts (or doesn't count) as exercise.
Dashing up and down the stairs: Yes, this counts as part of your workout because stair workouts always burn more than just walking.
Shopping at the Mall: Yes, it counts. Even when stopping to browse, you'll burn 100 calories in a half hour session.
Carrying your baby: Sorry, doesn't count. Your arms may ache, but it doesn't engage your cardiovascular system because women tend to walk slower when carrying something. Pushing a stroller on a nice brisk walk is better.
Trying on clothing : Believe it or not, YES! You're doing stretching, leg lifts, and walking in place, so this also burns about 100 calories/half hour.
Having s*x: Nope, doesn't count. Unless you're trying out the Karma Sutra, s*x doesn't significantly raise your heart rate. Weird, right? Of course, it has other benefits..........LOL!
And Th..............love the article about Tai Chi. I have been wanting to try that for a while now. Now I'm definitely going to find a class or borrow a DVD from the library!!!
