Save seeds from watermelon, melon, wash and dry them and use in crafts. You can use any type of seed.

1. Put them in a jar with other seeds (lentils, dry beans) let your kids separate them. You can even put them in a container and add little toys, pennies, bottle caps and have them find the items.

2. Take a wooden frame and glue them around frame. Take a summer picture of your family and slid it inside the frame.

3. Use them as counters for math when teaching little ones how to count.

4.  Make a shaker: cardboard tube-let them decorate it with markers, crayons, stickers, etc.  Glue on heavy foil or paper on one end. Pour in seeds/beans. Glue on the open end foil/paper. Let them shake away as musical instrument.
