Watching TV the other day I saw a program about "Surrendered Housewives" and the book L.Doyle had written. I was amazed to hear she has so many followers, she gives seminars and has sold I don´t know how many books. I also know this is no new news. It was a shocking experience to hear this (old) news. That is definitively not the life I would freely and willingly choose for myself.
Society expected my grandma to ask my grandpa permission to buy a washing machine or to travel out of the country. Fortunately, my grandpa was very opened minded. He had two daughters and his idea of a woman was: that she should get a college education, have her own car, have her own job and never ever depend on a man. My mom transmitted this to me and always wanted me to be independent.
The next day, out of curiosity I checked different forums of women who are in favor and against it. Giving second thoughts about my own life I have found out I might be in a sort of surrendered housewife relationship. It was something that gradually happened. It was not something I had decided to do. And I even hadn´t read the book, nor knew anything about l.Doyle.
