Martin Luther King Jr.

January 19, 2010 by scrapxs4

We got a late start yesterday on school but when we got it it was worth the wait. Not only did we do our normal work we also studied Martin Luther  King Jr. for a bit. We watched 2 movies about him including one with a lot of live footage and interviews.

First let me say that since I was educated in the PS I really only saw the " I have a dream " speach every year. I was taught about how much he did for black cival rights. However that is cutting Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. short  in my humble opinion. After seeing just a few interviews I had never seen before I learned so much more then I did in school.  For starters He wasn't just for black / colored  whatever rights. He was for human rights cival rights  for all who was suffering.

Then came the interveiw about the Veitnam war.  His words were so timeless. If you took his interview and just changed the names to todays wars it would be so relevant and current. I could go on  but I won't  I have to get back to todays schooling but I just was glad the kids and I had the experience to learn more about this great man other then just the white bread crust I had only learned before.  We are looking forward to learning more over the next few weeks.
