Cultured Kids

Cultured Kids

Children are exposed to all kinds of mindless noise throughout the day. When a song called “Get Low” is number one on the charts it’s time to ask: Is art dead? How many kids these days know who Claude Monet is? Probably just as many would recognize a painting by Picasso or a song from the Nutcracker.

The Arts are important and not getting the exposure they deserve these days. Most cities, even smaller ones, have art galleries or museums. Not sure if yours does? If you have a college in town then you more than likely have one. Expose your children (and yourself) to classic arts for the afternoon. It will require your children to slow down and quietly enjoy something, and trust me they will.

Afterwards, bring them home and make your own works of art. Get out the paints and pastels and encourage their creativity. Get involved with them. Creating is very therapeutic. Come share your artistic ventures with other artsy women in the Women’s Nest Women’s Forums. Tell us about how you expose your children to the arts. Don’t have kids? That’s fine too- share your creative outlet with women who need one.
