Camp Fire/Fire Pit Magic

Here are some things you can add into a fire to make different color flames or sparks. Some items are household items, others you will have to search for on the internet.

• Borax - light green flame
• Table salt - orange flame
• Epsom salts - white flame
• Sugar - gives you tiny sparks
• Powder Coffee Creamer - throw a handful in above the fire to make small sparkly flashes
• Flour - toss a small amount into flame to make a flash flame
• Iron filings -(can get them at a car garage) -toss a small bit into to make gold sparks
• Powdered aluminum - make silver sparks
• Magnesium shavings - very bright silver sparks
• Copper Chloride - blue flame
• Cooper Sulfate (tree root killer for plumbers or pool supply store) - green flame
• Strontium Chloride - red flames
• Potassium Chloride - purple flames
• Calcium chloride - (found with laundry/cleaning supplies - blue flames
• Lithium Chloride - pink flames
• Alum - green flames

Magic Wishing Powder - Gather everyone around the fire. Tell them they are going to have a magic wishing ceremony. In a small container put Granulated sugar - give each person a small amount. Have them make a wish and then on the count of 3 throw in their sugar. You don't have to tell them what it is.
