Have you ever had one of those days when you really tried to do what was best for yourself? Whether that's eating right, exercising, going the extra mile at work, or coutning to ten before you yell at your children--you know the feeling. One of those, "I did it!" days. Well, today I had an one!
My plan for the day was pretty simple; write in the morning, meet my husband for lunch, pick up the kids, straighten up, chat on the Women's Nest, make a nice, family dinner, exercise, homework, and handle our evening ritual of kid stuff.
The day played out very nicely until late afternoon with kids' schedules. No worries - we can work our dinner around the run back to get a forgotten computer, my husband's workout, and a high school talent show. I juggled my run; did 20 minutes when hubby left for his workout, then prepared and put dinner in the oven, and then completed my last 20 minutes of my run. This is all part of the larger plan of getting my exercise and healthy eating back on schedule.
Dinner was timed perfectly, but teens have a way of changing things--one needs to be dropped early (wants/needs, what's the difference at that point?), which happens to be right when our dinner is being taken out of the oven. We go 'round and 'round about rudeness and appreciation, the teen gets dropped off, the computer is picked up, and the world is circling around again.
Lo and behold--my wonderful husband walks through the door with DAIRY QUEEN! And not just any DQ, but a French Silk Blizzard - my fav! Okay, all else should fall to the wayside, right? I mean who can resist the Queen?!
Four bites later the Blizzard is nicely wrapped in a paper bag in the back of my freezer and I have avoided the need to run another four miles today!
The stars have aligned!
Now, for homework...
