For years I was an avid 5:30am exerciser - first my 3-5 mile run, then 40 minutes of weights - I never had a weight problem during those times (gee, I wonder why!), and I always had tons of energy and was never sick. As the years went on, my exercise times had to vary based on my kids' schedules, work, etc. And somehow I fell out of the early exercise routine and slipped to afternoon, then evening, then whenever I could fit it in.
The other day I realized that I'd been sick more often, sluggish, and all around not as vibrant as I used to be - True, some of this could be from age - 43 is creeping up quickly - but I think it has to do with exercise, too. Women's bodies are so weird with hormones, foods, etc., that I needed to find out what was good for me specifically.
After just two days of moving my workouts back to the morning, I feel wonderful! I have more energy for the day ahead, eating is not as troublesome - somehow I know when my body is actually hungry instead of bored, and I make smarter choices because of it.
I have recommited to morning exercise and I feel good about it. But I know many women who swear by later in the day exercising because their bodies are more awake.
I'd love to hear your take on times for exercise - What works for you?
