How are we doing today with our healthy challenge?
Bekah, are you going to make it to our homepage?

Regardless of the state of the economy, the worries of today's families remain constant - Health and money remain at the top of the list. The Women's Nest is going to try and help our members reach healthier lifestyles and learn savings techniques through empowerment.
This week, though it's only been three days, has been no good for my exercise routine! From my hubby staying home a little extra Monday morning, to driving my son to college to pick up his furniture - I've gotten no exercise in at all! It's bad enough that I'm not running 5 miles each day anymore - but now to have missed another three days?? What the heck is going on here?
I was talking to Clare the other day about motivation for weight loss and accountability. We have our Daily Dose of Exercise Motivation thread - daily exercises that you can (typically) do at home - and an accountability thread to help stay motivated.
We also have our weekly Skinny Thoughts thread for everyone to stay motivated with eating healthy and accountable with weigh-ins.
For years I was an avid 5:30am exerciser - first my 3-5 mile run, then 40 minutes of weights - I never had a weight problem during those times (gee, I wonder why!), and I always had tons of energy and was never sick. As the years went on, my exercise times had to vary based on my kids' schedules, work, etc. And somehow I fell out of the early exercise routine and slipped to afternoon, then evening, then whenever I could fit it in.
Why should I try to have a healthy diet?
Having a healthy diet is one of the most important things you can do to help your overall health. Along with physical activity, your diet is the key factor that affects your weight. Having a healthy weight for your height is important. Being overweight or obese increases your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, breathing problems, arthritis, gallbladder disease, sleep apnea (breathing problems while sleeping), osteoarthritis, and some cancers.

I would like to know exactly when women's bodies became a primary focus for everyone on this earth, and in addition to that, I'd like to know exactly when it became common place for women to have low self esteem because of their bodies. Hmph! I am stumped!
I am happy to say that I got off my lazy bum and went to my yoga class tonight! It was the first (for me) of a class called Stretch & Restore. Sounds calming, easy, right? WRONG! This class was anything but easy. It was, surprisingly, calming. But that might have something to do with the fact that once you've riddled your body with unnatural twists and turns, held poses until your thighs shook, and sweat in places you didn't know possible, how could you be anything but calm.
I started a new yoga class yesterday evening, and boy was it wonderful! I was a little nervous, because I don't usually like classes. I am a solo exerciser, except when it comes to running - I love to run with a partner and talk until we're done running! LOL!
