Can I Advertise My Business In The Forum?

I know many of you have home-based and other businesses. However, we do not allow marketing of your businesses on the Forum. If you place an advertisement, you do run the risk of being banned from The Women's Nest. The reason for this  is simple. Women come to TWN to be part of a community of women where they can escape from their daily life, chat with others who are in similar situations, gain and share advice, stories, and friendship. Advertisements takes away from the value that TWN offers to our members. Unfortunately, if we allowed advertising in the Forum, we would quickly become a venue for spam, and that would be quite a turn off for our members.

What Can You Do Instead?

Contact Thinkhappy about advertising on our site or putting a link to your site in the  Links We Like area of the Forum - It is in the Welcome Aboard area - The first place new members visit when joining our site. You can also advertise your site with an inexpensive advertisement - again, just PM Thinkhappy for our low rates!

If Your Screen Appears Funny/Jumbled - Here's a Quick Fix!

Low screen resolution can cause issues with the way our site appears (urgh!). If you notice that the center column bleeds into the column on the right, try this (you only have to do this once - it is not necessary each time you visit the site):

Click on your Start button (lower right). Click on Control Panel. Click on either (depending on how yours is set up) Display, Appearance, or  Personalization. What you are looking for is the display resolution setting - Drag the bar until it reads around 1280 x 960 (you'll need to play with it a bit and decide what looks best on your screen) and the click Apply. You will be asked if you want to keep these settings - Click Yes. That should resolve your site issues until we figure out if we can create a "fix" for you that is automatic.  You will then notice that it appears fine. You might notice other sites appearing better as well! Thank you for your patience!

IF the words are larger than the green boxes, it may be as simple as changing your text size. Click on View in your Browser menu - Then click on Text Size - Set it one size smaller than it currently is (you can always reverse this if the fonts appear to small).

ANOTHER REASON you might have issues is if you are using an older version of Internet Explorer or Mozilla. If you are not sure if you are, check in your Browser bar under HELP and then go to About IE - it will tell you what version you are using. If you are not using V7, then you might want to upgrade (free) or even use Mozilla (which Thinkhappy LOVES). Both are free downloads. Google is your friend - do a Google Search for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox Download.

Everyone probably does this already, but just in case I thought I'd mention a few areas that it would be nice if members could check each day -

Many days we have new introductions in the Introduce Yourself Here area. It would be wonderful if you could pop in there and welcome our newbees!

New articles are posted not just on the front page, but also in the main menu areas (Entertainment, Health & Wellness, Life & Leisure, and US News). We post about 3 each week, so you might want to check those out!

Daily blogs posted by Thinkhappy often times are site related - good place to hear about new and upcoming stuff! Check out your fellow members' blogs, too!

As always, using your Recent Posts bullet in the left navigation menu will show you all new content to the site in dated order.

Need Smiley's and eCards?? We've got TONS! FREE!

Click here FREE SMILEY's orFREE eCards for totally free and easy downloads! Check it out and use them in posts/blogs/IMs/email!  If you have any trouble adding them, you can always click "Get the HTML" and then copy it into the Source (in the top left of your posting body). It will look like lines and lines of garbage - but you will have a perfect smiley when you "submit"!

The FREE SMILEY's will offer you other freebies - if you don't want them (some are very cool!) just hit DECLINE.

When the download box appears, simply choose "Save to Disk" in the window. You will then see a box pop up in the lower right of your browser that says "Download Complete"- Quickly click on that. If you didn't click in time, just go to tools-Downloads in your Firefox menu bar. Your "Downloads" box will then show up with your download listed at the top. CLICK "OPEN" here. This will open the installer, which is an executable file. Now just follow the steps and you will have downloaded your FREE product!

Add pics to blogs - Use the yellow mountain widget in the left upper corner of the Edit bar!  Your photo must first be on the web (to eliminate p**n pics from spammers). Check out tinypic.com - that's an easy upload to use! Complete step by step directions are in the FAQ area to the left.

Where do I start???

The first thing you should probably do is PRINT THIS PAGE (see printer-friendly version at bottom of page) because we’re going to provide you with many helpful hints to help you throughout your first few visits to The Women’s Nest.

Register: Before gaining access to our fabulous women’s forum you must Register/Login.  Simply click on Register/Login in the left column of the main page or follow the link above. Registering is a quick and simple process. You provide your email address and select a User Name, and then you will have to verify you are a real person and not a Spambot by verifying your email address using the provided link.

Surf: Once you have verified your email and logged in, surf the site to familiarize yourself with our resources. We offer the following (all FREE):  Forums, Blogs (start your own – left navigation menu, click on Blogs, then click on My Blog and begin!), monthly Book Club (don't forget to order your book! New book announced the 15th of each month!), Articles, Shopping, Women’s Nest Merchandise, and current news in the areas of Entertainment, Health & Wellness, Life & Leisure, and US News.

Women’s Forum

You must be registered and logged in to view and take part in our Women’s Forums. This is to protect our members from spam and p**nographic materials being placed in the forum, as well as protecting the privacy of your posts.

Read Welcome Aboard: You can find this in the left navigation menu. Please read through our Rules/Regs, How to Upload an Avatar (the little pic under the user names), and other newbee information about the Forums.

Introduce Yourself to Our Members: A great place to start, after reading our Welcome info about avatars and such, is in the Introduce Yourself Here area! Tell other members about yourself and let them know to look for your posts!  Please use your SCREEN NAME as your Topic! You can also go to Find a Forum (left menu) and click on the specific category you are looking for or click on Women’s Forum in the top menu to see all of the categories at once.

Helpful Info about Posting in the Forum: Once logged in, you will see Recent Posts in the left Menu. There, you can view your posts as well as the posts from others, or go to your Account (found in the Menu at the left of your screen) and click on Track to view your own posts.

The Post New Topic is located just below the Mark All Forums Read button at the Subcategory Level (ie: Click on a Category such as Family & Parenting. You will then need to click into a Topic – There you can add a  NEW TOPIC (Thread) or go into an existing Topic and click "Reply".  If you are reading a thread (topic) and don’t want to reply to that topic, but you’d like to start a new thread about a different topic, you’ll need to go back one screen to the Topic level.

Blogs: Blogs are free for all members! Since you do not need to be a registered member to read the blogs, it is a great way to keep your family and friends up-to-date with your daily happenings! To start your own blog, simply click on Blogs in the left navigation menu, then click on My Blog. You will then see a place to post your own blog in the center of the screen. Do not fret if you don’t see your name under Nest Bloggers right away. The five people who blog the most show up there – the rest are seen when clicking “more”.  So blog away!

Book Club: Our Book Club currently reads one book each month. The book is announced and offered for sale on the 20^th of the prior month. On-going discussions occur in our Women’s Forum Book Club area. You are welcome to review other books and suggest upcoming reads in the Book & Media area of the Women’s Forum.

Referring Friends and Winning Prizes: The Women’s Nest offers prizes to members who refer ten friends using our Invite A Friend link in the center of the homepage. From time to time we also offer contests, which are announced in the center of the homepage.

Private Messages: Can be found in the left navigation Menu. These messages are only delivered through the board. We do not allow spamming via PM. If you receive a PM containing spam or something that makes you uncomfortable, please report it immediately to Thinkhappy.

Smileys: We offer free smiley downloads in the left navigation menu. These can be used in our Women’s Forum and blogs.

Free offers: We often receive discounted and free offers from our affiliates. Rather than litter our site with them, we’ve compiled an area called Cool Offers in the left navigation Menu. That area is updated daily, so check back often!
