I've had a busy last several days, but I just HAVE to post about Saturday's luncheon at the Aqua Turf.
Did anyone see Dateline tonight?
Okay, I'm halfway through reading, "The Art of Racing in the Rain". For those who have read it, think: Dog's reincarnation into a human....., okay?
I always say that my dog, Larry, loves me the best and if he was human, I would marry him!
Okay, it's nearly 2:30am. I was having a freaky, fun dream that involved swimming, climbing in a huge treehouse, running around like a little kid in the woods........a lot of action.
Nick called...said he had BIG news!!! Kate yelled in the background, "Tell her I'm not pregnant before she gets her hopes up!" Does my daughter-in-law know me, or what?
I got my ticket today!!! There is an author's luncheon at the Aqua Turf in Southington and I'm going! I'm just thrilled to death. Tomie dePaola and someone else are speakers.
Last night's weather forecast was 'snow beginning after midnight, accumulation 2-4 inches'. Well, the temps stayed up and we ended up with only rain! So great! With all the roof collapses, we don't need more snow right now. As much as I love it, I just feel so bad for everyone. A gal at work had the roof to her three-season room collapse over the weekend. Poor thing. Her husband lost his job a few months ago, too. Hopefull
We've had some roof collapses in our area lately. And today, several large department stores were evacuated and deemed unsafe. With all the snow and ice, many places, including the library had snow removed from the roof.
The snow has started! They've named this storm "Ella" after Connecticut's first woman governor. She was governor during the Blizzard of '78! She handled the emergency VERY well, closing down the state for three days. It was necessary and she had the leadership to commandeer the state through the mess!
Dh just left for work. We watched, "mamma mia"! I looove that movie. I first saw it with my daughter-in-law, before she was my daughter-in-law. Then I took the other son's girlfriend to see the live performance at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford. I cry EVERY time I watch it or see it live! It drives home the fact that Women are Amazing!!!!!!!
Watching the news, I saw the owners of the package store we used before we moved to this city. It's a husband and wife. I served on several boards in town with him and coordinated several fundraisers over the years with the wife. WELL...they were on tv with their beautiful boxer/pit bull/something else mix named Ginger. A masked man came into the store and pulled a gun, Ginger came flying from behind the counter and chased the guy right out of the store! Isn't that great?
Wednesday, the guy across the street had his jeep stolen. All the guys were outside shoveling and snowblowing and then were done and went inside their separate houses. The guy with the jeep is the son of the older man across the street. I came out on the front porch and there was a police cruiser! The son had his jeep running, heating up as he was getting ready to leave his dad's place. He came outside and the jeep was gone!
So, where do I post about "Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society?" I'm rereading it and remembering how enjoyable it is. I have notes that I took when I read it the first time. If I can figure out where they are, I'll glance at them. Immediately upon beginning this book for the second time, I was hit with two entries that hooked me in, the first time. One is on page 8. "I can't think of anything lonelier than spending the rest of my life with som
Spoke with Gina last night. She really sounds so much better after going to Boston yesterday, and getting positive news. Chris is getting stronger, but they know the rehab process will be long and frustrating. Gina's mom and sis will be there Saturday, so Gina will have some 'free time' that she really needs. Keep the positive thoughts coming! Gina loves all the support from the Nest. It helps on those days that nothing seems to be going right.
I'm so flippin' tired. Thank God I see my doctors on Tuesday. I can't take one more night of pain/insomnia. You would think I would at least nap during the day after being awake all night, but noooooooo....no napping here! Can't sleep at night, can't sleep during the day. Poor Dh. I pretty much hate him right now. He works nights and complains when he only gets 5 or 6 hours of sleep during the day. I would give my weekly paycheck to be able to get even HALF that much sleep! And when I hear him snoring, I just want to smother him with a p
